A New Roof Made Easy
We’ve talked to many homeowners over the years. Here’s what they tell us they look for in a contractor: good work, reasonable rates, and reliable communication. Those standards are bare minumum. We want to go above and beyond.
We maintain high standards for both the quality of roof we put on, and the way we treat our customers. That includes transparent pricing and clear, frequent communication. We consider roofing education an important part of our job. By giving you all the information you want to know, we respect your ability to make decisions for your own home.
And if you just want to pick a color and never think about it again? You can trust us to give you the best roof for your home and your budget. The bar for roofing companies in Connecticut is too low, so we set it higher.

Let's be honest...most people don't want to replace their roof.
Just like you go to the doctor when you’re sick, homeowners come to us when they’re dealing with a problem. No one’s replacing their roof for fun. So, like a doctor, we consider it our job to cure your roof – and to help you get through a stressful process as painlessly as possible.
And our honest secret? Roofs aren’t our real passion either. True, it is extremely satisfying to see a job well done. Yes, we strain our necks looking at roofs even while we’re on vacation. But our real passion is to know we helped our homeowners have a great experience and a safer, more beautiful home.

How are our prices so low?
Many people think of low prices as a sign of low quality. We think of it as a sign we care about you. Our quotes are frequently one of the lowest or the lowest quote. If that feels too good to be true, here’s how we do it.
- Intentionally small. We are a small, family-owned business. That means we don’t have a lot of corporate red tape. There are no private equity shareholders to pay. We track and use leftover materials to minimize job-related expenses. Instead of pricing the same as bigger companies and pocketing the savings, we pass the savings onto you.
- Lower profits. People are more important than profit. We price aggressively low because we care about your ability to afford a new roof and a safe home. As long as we are not compromising the quality of our work or paying our workers less than they deserve, we will keep our prices low.
- No artificial markups. Everyone should have access to high-quality roofing materials. Installing upgraded shingles is the same amount of work for us as installing standard shingles. That’s why we’ll never add a mark-up to the materials we use. If you choose to upgrade to a more high-end shingle, you pay the same amount we paid for them. That goes for every material we install and every warranty we offer: you pay the difference in material cost for upgrades, and not a penny more.
Products we install in Connecticut
We’ve partnered with GAF to become a trusted installer of their Timberline HDZ and UHDZ asphalt shingles. They offer a high quality product at affordable prices, including a wide variety of color options.
GAF constantly keeps us informed about all the new ways they are implementing technology into their shingles. That means great protection, industry-leading warranties, and consistent products.
We install Everlast metal roofs, including Everlast II, Everloc, and Everseam. With excellent warranties and a variety of colors and styles to choose from, we believe Everlast to be the highest quality metal roofs in our region.
Cedar shake is a classic roofing material that develops a beautiful patina over time. While more expensive and time-consuming to install, the unique look is highly valued, especially in the North East.
Cedar shake available in Connecticut includes white cedar, western red cedar, and Alaskan yellow cedar. We choose wood that meets the blue, grade-1 standards outlined by the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau.
If you have a flat or low slope roof, rubber roofing is often the best choice for you. We install EPDM rubber roofing – an efficient, affordable covering for a roof that won’t be seen much. EPDM is ideal for roofs in New England to protect from cold weather and snow.

Because roofs come in so many shapes and sizes, it is impossible to tell you how much a roof replacement will cost without knowing your exact situation.
For a full roof removal and installation in Connecticut, we typically charge between $700-800 per 100 square feet of shingles (referred to as one square of roofing). This assumes you don’t have a very steep or difficult roof, only one layer of shingles to remove, and will replace them with standard asphalt shingles.
The best way to know how much your roof will cost is to schedule a free inspection. And feel free to shop around – you’re unlikely to find a trustworthy contractor who can do it for less.
The durability of your roof depends on the quality of the material.
For asphalt shingle roofs, there are two styles – architectural shingles, and three-tab shingles. Three tab shingles only last 10-15 years. These are becoming less and less common, and many are discontinued completely. Architectural shingles are higher quality and have longer life expectancies. Many are now labeled as 50-year shingles, but in harsh Connecticut winters, lower quality shingles might only last 30 years.
Metal roofs are known for their durability. But as technology improves for asphalt shingles, their lifespan ends up being pretty comparable. You can expect 50 years from a quality, standing-seam metal roof as long as they don’t suffer from hail damage.
Cedar shake roofs can last up to 50 years with proper maintenance – but if not carefully maintained every 2-4 years and as issues arise, they may only last 15-20 years.
Maybe! Homeowner’s insurance will pay for damages caused by winds over 60mph, hail larger than the size of a quarter, ice dams, fallen branches, fires, and other disasters.
In Connecticut, insurance is required to replace covered materials “with material of like kind and quality so as to conform to a reasonably uniform appearance.” That means that if your roof can’t be fixed in a way that matches the surrounding roof, insurance should cover the cost to replace the whole thing. If you have a discontinued shingle, or if your roof is old and brittle, there is a good chance you can get a full roof replacement covered by your insurance policy.
Our inspectors have lots of experience and knowledge with roofing insurance claims. We’ll be able to tell you if you have coverable damage. We’ll even meet with your insurance adjuster to show the damage and explain the necessary repairs.
If it’s small and easily repaired, the cost probably won’t even meet your deductible. In that case, we’re happy to do a quick repair at an affordable rate.
Installing new shingles over old shingles is often called a “layover.” While it is not a code violation to install a second layer, we choose not to do it because it does not live up to our standards of quality.
Our standard full roof replacement typically has a life expectancy of 50 years. A layover is expected to last 10 years at best. New shingles are nailed into solid wood decking. In a layover, shingles are attached to soft, worn out shingles. This is not the way shingles are designed to be used. You’re much more likely to see wind damage, and repairing the damage will be more expensive to fix.
Installing a second layer of shingles will void all manufacturer warranties. More than two layers is a violation of code. Shingles are extremely heavy, and adding more shingles than your roof was designed to hold can be dangerous. With the amount of snow we can get in New England, a layover is not likely to hold up well, and the weight could cause damage to the structure of your home.
This is why we have chosen not to install additional layers of shingles: the risks and downsides for you as a homeowner are too great. Even if you plan to sell your home, a roof layover is seen as a red flag in an inspection and will hurt your home value. You may save a few thousand dollars now, but you will end up paying MUCH more long term.
